Welcome to Torch: the road to LA28, and every sport along the way

A new home for fans who don’t want to wait until 2028 to get excited. Here’s what we’re building.

Torch Newsroom · 2026-07-22

The Olympic flame won’t be lit in Los Angeles until July 14, 2028 — but the story starts now, and we didn’t want you to miss a day of it.

Torch is a home for sports fans on the long road to the Games. The plan is simple: cover everything worth caring about between now and then, tell it like it’s exciting — because it is — and stick to the facts while we do it. No manufactured hot takes. Just the stuff that makes you want to text a friend.

What you’ll find here

Right now, Torch is built around the LA28 Olympics: the full published competition schedule, every venue, every sport, and explainer guides so you actually understand what you’re watching when the time comes. As qualification unfolds over the next two years, we’ll fill in the athletes, the storylines, and the medal race.

But the Games are the culmination, not the whole show. Torch is growing into a multi-sport network, with dedicated sections rolling out for the sports that fill the years in between:

Each one keeps the same shape you’ll get used to here: schedules, standings, the players, and its own stream of news.

Why now

Because the best part of any Olympics isn’t just the seventeen days of competition — it’s the four-year climb: the qualifiers, the upsets, the comeback stories, the debuts. LA28 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Games ever, with a record 351 medal events and five sports making their mark. We’re going to follow all of it.

Pull up a seat. The fire’s just getting started.
