Two Days Left: LA28's Drop 2 Closes Wednesday as Community Tickets Land
The second public ticket window for the 2028 Games ends August 20, just as LA28 and the Rams put the first 1,000 free community tickets into local hands.
The window is closing. Drop 2, LA28's second public on-sale for the 2028 Olympic Games, runs through August 20 — meaning fans have two days left to buy before this round of inventory is gone, per LA28's announcement. The drop spans all Olympic sports at a range of price points, with fans able to purchase up to 12 Olympic event tickets, up to 12 additional soccer tournament tickets, and a four-ticket limit on ceremonies.

The first on-sale in April was, by LA28's own accounting, historic: more than 4 million tickets sold across 85 countries and all 50 U.S. states, per LA28. The local skew was the striking part — 95% of sub-$100 tickets in the presale went to Los Angeles and Oklahoma City residents, alongside half a million $28 tickets distributed to locals. Artistic gymnastics sold out fastest, and women's Olympic sessions outsold men's, 93% to 88%. "The response to our initial on-sale was nothing short of historic," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said at the time.

The ticket news this week wasn't only about selling. LA28 and the Los Angeles Rams named the first ten recipients of the Community Ticket Program, which puts 1,000 complimentary tickets into the hands of local youth organizations — among them the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro L.A., Heart of Los Angeles, Brotherhood Crusade and Swim Up Hill — funded by the Rams' inaugural $5 million donation, as reported by the Beverly Press. Recipients will watch flag football's Olympic debut or swimming at 2028 Stadium (SoFi Stadium), which also hosts the Opening Ceremony. "This investment ensures that the people and nonprofits... are able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event," Rams president Kevin Demoff said.
The milestones are stacking up: LA28 also marked two years out from Los Angeles hosting its first-ever Paralympic Games this month. The road to July 2028 now runs through checkpoints like Wednesday's deadline — and after that, the wait for Drop 3 begins.
