LA28 Ticket Drop 2 Opens Today, With Every Olympic Sport on the Board
The second wave of Los Angeles 2028 ticket sales runs August 10-20, with seats across all Olympic sports and prices starting at $28.
Two years and change before the cauldron is lit, the biggest ticket sale of the LA28 cycle so far begins today. Drop 2 opens August 10 and runs through August 20, and unlike the first round, organizers say tickets are available across all Olympic sports and price points.
Why it matters
Drop 1 was a statement of demand: LA28 says it has already sold more than 4 million tickets to buyers in 85 countries and all 50 U.S. states, with roughly half a million of the promised $28 tickets claimed and nearly three-quarters of Drop 1 tickets going to local residents. Drop 2 is the follow-through - and for many fans who missed the first window, the first real shot at seats.
How it works
This is not a first-come free-for-all. General registration closed July 22, and everyone who registered - including Drop 1 registrants, who were automatically re-entered - went into a random draw. Selected fans were notified by email on August 6-7 with an assigned purchase window. According to LAmag's FAQ, each time slot lasts 48 hours, with tickets held in a cart for 30 minutes at a time, and prices run from $28 to over $1,000 depending on sport and seat.
The limits carry over from Drop 1: a cumulative maximum of 12 Olympic event tickets per person across all drops, a separate allowance of 12 more for the football (soccer) tournament, and a four-ticket cap on the Opening and Closing Ceremonies that counts toward the overall 12. A Visa cardholder presale already ran July 29-31.
What's next
Organizers have said an official resale platform arrives in 2027, which will eventually take the sting out of missed windows. For now, the draw is the only door in - and it stays open through August 20.
