LA28 Ticket Drop 2 Opens Monday — Here's How the Window Actually Works

Notification emails are landing now, sales run August 10–20, and this round covers every Olympic sport after a first drop that moved more than four million tickets.

The second great scramble for LA28 tickets begins Monday. Drop 2 runs August 10–20, and per LA28's announcement, the notification emails assigning purchase time slots went out August 6–7 — so if you registered before the July 22 deadline, this is the weekend to check your inbox.

How the window works

Access is by random draw. Fans selected in the LA28 Ticket Draw receive an email with an assigned time slot inside the August 10–20 window; when your slot opens, you shop whatever inventory remains. This drop spans all Olympic sports at a range of price points, subject to availability. The limits: up to 12 Olympic event tickets per buyer, a maximum of four for each ceremony, plus up to 12 additional soccer tournament tickets. Visa cardholders already had an early crack at inventory in a July 29–31 presale, per TicketNews.

The bar Drop 1 set

The first drop, launched in April, moved more than 4 million tickets — a record pace LA28 says drew buyers from 85 countries and all 50 states. The striking numbers are local: nearly 75% of Drop 1 tickets went to residents of the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas (the latter hosting softball and canoe slalom), locals claimed 95% of tickets priced under $100, and half a million $28 tickets were distributed. "These Games belong to Los Angeles and to the world," CEO Reynold Hoover said in the announcement.

Why it matters

Drop 2 is the first real test of international and general-public demand. Drop 1's inventory was overwhelmingly absorbed close to home; this round — with registration having been open worldwide and every sport on the table — will show how deep the global appetite runs two years out from the Games, and how much affordable inventory survives contact with it. If you miss this window, LA28 has said tickets will continue to be sold in phases through 2028 — but Drop 1 showed how quickly the sub-$100 inventory disappears.
