If you missed out on the first wave of LA28 Olympic tickets, your second chance is days away — and this week is when the machinery starts moving. According to LA28's official announcement, Drop 2 opens August 10 and runs through August 20, with tickets available across all Olympic sports and price points, subject to inventory.

The dates that matter

Registration for this round closed July 22, and qualifying Visa cardholders are being notified July 27 about an early presale window running July 29-31, ahead of the main sale. Everyone else selected for Drop 2 should watch their inbox August 6-7, when LA28 sends time-slot notifications, per NBC Sports. Access details arrive the day before and the day of your assigned slot. One quiet perk: fans who registered previously and didn't max out their purchases are automatically rolled into future drops without re-registering.

What you can buy

Selected fans can purchase up to 12 tickets for Olympic events, with a cap of 4 each for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, plus up to 12 additional tickets for the soccer tournaments. LA28 says 95% of Drop 1 tickets were priced under $100, and the signature $28 ticket tier returns as part of the program.

Why it matters

Demand is not a hypothetical. Drop 1 in April moved more than 4 million tickets to fans in 85 countries, with Los Angeles and Oklahoma City locals scooping up nearly 75% of them. "The Games belong to Los Angeles and to the world," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in the announcement. With two years to go until the Games, Drop 2 may be the best combination of selection and price fans will see for a while.
