LA28 Ticket Drop 2 Enters Its Final Week
The second draw for 2028 Olympic tickets closes August 20 — and after a four-million-ticket first drop, this is the last broad shot at seats for a while.
The window is closing. Drop 2, LA28's second ticket sale for the 2028 Summer Olympics, runs only through Thursday, August 20 — and with registration long since shut (it ended July 22), the fans who made the draw are working through timed purchase slots right now.
How the final week works
Selected fans were notified by email on August 6–7, and each gets an assigned purchase window during the August 10–20 sale — NBC Los Angeles reports the individual time slots run 48 hours. According to Los Angeles Magazine, selected buyers get a reminder email the day before and again three hours before their slot opens, and a loaded cart only holds tickets for 30 minutes.
The limits are cumulative across all sales: 12 Olympic event tickets per person, a separate allowance of 12 for the soccer tournaments, and a four-ticket cap per ceremony. Prices range from $28 to over $1,000 depending on sport and seat.
Why the stakes are real
Drop 1 in April was, by LA28's own numbers, historic: more than 4 million tickets sold across 85 countries and all 50 states. Demand skewed in telling ways — women's Olympic sessions outsold men's (93% to 88% of available inventory), artistic gymnastics sold out fastest, and the four new sports (flag football, lacrosse, softball and squash) cleared their entire allocations. Roughly half a million $28 tickets went to Los Angeles and Oklahoma City locals.
LA28 says overall ticket registration has reached 12 million people across more than 200 countries. Miss this window and the fallback is registering at tickets.la28.org for future draws — with Paralympic tickets not arriving until 2027.
For anyone holding a Drop 2 slot: the clock runs out Thursday.
