LA28's Second Ticket Window Is Open — and 12 Million Fans Are in the Draw
Drop 2 runs August 10–20 with randomly assigned 48-hour time slots and tickets across every Olympic sport.
The second big chance to lock in seats for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is live. Drop 2, LA28's second ticket sale, opened Monday and runs through August 20, with tickets available across all Olympic sports "at a range of price points, subject to inventory availability," according to LA28.
How it works
This is not a free-for-all. Fans who registered by the July 22 deadline were entered into a draw, and those randomly selected received emails in early August with an assigned time slot. Each slot stays open for 48 hours, per NBC Los Angeles — a two-day window to buy up to 12 Olympic tickets, plus up to 12 more for the soccer tournaments. Ceremonies are capped at four tickets each, and the limits carry over from earlier sales. Fans who registered for Drop 1 but never got a slot, or didn't max out their allowance, were rolled into this draw automatically.
The scale of demand is striking: ticket registration has reached 12 million people from more than 200 countries, NBC Los Angeles reports.
Why it matters
Drop 1 set the bar. LA28 sold more than 4 million tickets in its initial on-sale — a benchmark reached more than two years before the Games — including nearly 500,000 discounted $28 tickets for Los Angeles and Oklahoma City locals. One detail stood out from that first wave: women's Olympic sessions outsold men's sessions, 93% to 88%.
"These Games belong to Los Angeles and to the world, and we look forward to welcoming fans everywhere," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said when Drop 2 was announced.
For fans holding a time slot, the next ten days are the moment. For everyone else, LA28 has said a resale platform and Paralympic ticket sales arrive in 2027 — so this is far from the last on-ramp to Los Angeles.
