LA28 Drop 2 is here: draw emails land now, buying windows open August 10

The second wave of Olympic ticket sales starts Monday, and LA28 says time-slot notification emails go out August 6-7 to everyone who entered the draw.

If you registered for the second LA28 ticket drop, this is the week to watch your inbox. According to LA28's official announcement, notification emails assigning each fan a purchase time slot go out August 6–7, ahead of buying windows that run August 10–20.

How Drop 2 works

Registration closed July 22 at Tickets.LA28.org, and slots were assigned by random draw — the LA28 Olympic Ticket Draw — rather than first-come, first-served. When their window opens, fans can buy up to 12 Olympic tickets (with a four-ticket cap per ceremony), plus up to 12 more for the soccer tournaments. LA28 says tickets will be available across every Olympic sport and at a range of price points, subject to inventory, with sales powered by AXS and Eventim.

What Drop 1 revealed

The first drop moved more than 4 million tickets to buyers in all 50 states and 85 countries — a record pace, per LA28. It also skewed heavily local: the organizing committee says fans in Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, where sales opened first, claimed roughly three-quarters of Drop 1 tickets, including 95 percent of seats priced under $100 and about 500,000 of the $28 tickets.

"These Games belong to Los Angeles and to the world, and we look forward to welcoming fans everywhere," LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in the announcement.

That local skew is why Drop 2 matters: it is the first real read on wider demand. The process hasn't been friction-free — TicketNews reported this spring that criticism of top-end pricing, with premium seats reported as high as $5,000, has carried into the second drop.

With the Games two summers away, the next ten days will show whether the early sales surge was an LA phenomenon or a global one.
