Dallas beat Philadelphia 38-21 on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field, a result that moves the Cowboys to 3-4 and leaves the Eagles at 2-5 with a fifth consecutive defeat.

The win is Dallas's first in Philadelphia since 2021, according to ESPN, and it came on the back of a ground game that had not looked like this all season. Javonte Williams carried 25 times for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown, the 2-yard run that finished the scoring. Dallas ran for 204 yards as a team, its best total of the year, and Sky Sports notes Williams' 155 was the first 150-yard rushing game by a Cowboy since Ezekiel Elliott in 2018.

How it unfolded

Dallas opened with a field goal and Philadelphia answered with Saquon Barkley's 8-yard touchdown run, per Sky Sports' account. From there Dak Prescott took over. He finished 15-of-27 for 212 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers, two of the scores going to CeeDee Lamb and one to George Pickens on a 21-yard wheel route. Dallas led 20-14 at halftime.

Philadelphia briefly went in front in the third quarter. A drive that ate close to ten minutes ended with Tanner McKee's 4-yard pass to rookie Makai Lemon for a 21-20 lead. Dallas answered with Prescott's 16-yard touchdown pass to Lamb and a two-point run for 28-21, then added a Brandon Aubrey field goal and Williams' late touchdown. The Eagles did not score again; McKee's final pass of note was intercepted by DeMarvion Overshown late in the fourth quarter.

Neither outlet singles out one turning point, but the sequence after Lemon's touchdown is the clearest swing in Sky Sports' account: Philadelphia took its only lead of the second half and Dallas answered with Lamb's touchdown and the two-point conversion.

What it means

ESPN reports Dallas had 330 yards of offence before the fourth quarter began and that Prescott faced little pressure, a contrast with the previous two games, in which he threw four interceptions under heavy pressure. The Cowboys now sit second in the NFC East behind the New York Giants (4-2-1). ESPN Analytics, as cited in its story, gives Dallas a 57 percent chance of winning the division.

For Philadelphia, ESPN says the defence allowed 416 yards, one of its worst outings under coordinator Vic Fangio. Sky Sports calls the five-game losing streak the Eagles' longest since 2016. Jalen Hurts did not play, and McKee, making his second start, went 23-of-35 for 211 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Barkley returned from a hamstring problem to rush seven times for 62 yards and a score but did not come back in the fourth quarter after being listed as questionable with a back injury, ESPN reports.

Dallas hosts Arizona next Sunday; Philadelphia visits Washington.
