Europe's top five leagues shut the summer transfer window on September 1, and the final 48 hours produced two moves with real Premier League consequences.

An unknown quantity at the Etihad

Manchester City confirmed the signing of Allan, a 22-year-old Brazilian winger, from Palmeiras for a fee reported at £34 million (about $46m) by Yahoo Sports. He arrives as the replacement for Savio, who left for Tottenham earlier in the window, and will compete with Antoine Semenyo, Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden for minutes in the wide positions.

The striking part: Allan has never been capped by Brazil at any level. "This is a surreal moment for me," he said. "To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life." City director of football Hugo Viana called him "a really exciting winger and a team player" who "thrives in the big moments."

Muñoz chooses a Glasner reunion

A day earlier, Nottingham Forest completed the signing of Colombian right-back Daniel Muñoz from Crystal Palace, per VAVEL, which reported a fee of around £22 million — FootballTransfers lists it at €25.7m. Muñoz leaves Selhurst Park after 109 appearances, 11 goals and a Conference League title, and links back up with Oliver Glasner, the manager who made him one of the league's most productive attacking full-backs at Palace.

Elsewhere on the continent

According to FootballTransfers' done-deals tracker, Real Madrid picked up Sergio Martinez from Racing Santander for €3m, while Roma sent Jan Ziolkowski on loan to Monza. Barring a late flurry, the market closes Tuesday — and squad lists across Europe are effectively final until January.
